Chapel 39 - Jesus is removed from Cross
After verification of the death of Jesus by a spear thrust into his side,
Pilate allows Joseph of Arimathea to take away the body. Sunset is approaching and it is necessary to hurry. Joseph the disciple and the holy women, takes down Jesus from the cross with the greatest respect.


Built in the first half of the 17th cen. Statues by Giovanni d'Enrico (17th
cen.) and Giacomo Ferro (17th cen.). Frescoes by Melchiorre Gilardini known as "Ceranino" (17th cen.)
